Zu dem geposteten D-Styles Video mit dem Vestax Spin gegen nen QFO zitier ich mal Gizmo von scratchworks, der bringts nämlich auf den Punkt:
"As I've said over and over again, the gear is somewhere down the list of importance when it comes to being a DJ, and is so much more about skill. D-Styles is about as skilled as you're going to get when it comes to scratching, so it should come as no surprise that he can make djay and spin put out a solid performance.
Granted, D-Styles and Cyberia are holding back. Dave is operating within the safe operational boundaries of the Vestax Spin and djay rather than trying to get his full vinyl based repertoire out of a 4" wheel. Nor do I think for a second that he'll ever ditch decks for a controller. But I hope that this video shows that:
a. It's about skills, not the gear that makes you a good DJ.
b. Even entry level controllers can perform well if used properly.
c. This is a blatant Stokyo promo clip, and that they sell Vestax Spin, Oyaide cables, Selectors and Hifana Serato pressings."

Das beantwortet auch die Frage, warum die meisten Hip Hop Deejays am DVS mit Timecode und nicht mit Controllern arbeiten. Nämlich weil ne 12" sich immernoch besser scratchen lässt als ein kleines Jogwheel. Und da eben viele Hip Hop Deejays auch Turntableism betreiben, wollen sie nunmal ihre Skills durch einen Conroller nicht limitieren lassen. Cuepunkte und Effekte kann man ja trotzdem über zusätzliche Midi-Controller steuern.
